This one is super simple and also super delicious. I am not a meat replacement fan, and I don't really try to immitate meat either. But I must admit, I have a buffalo wings cheat meal every once in a while and I may not need to do that any more. This tempeh recipe had such an amazing texture, I think actual chicken wings have been beat.
Ingredients
Tempeh
1 block of tempeh, cut at an angle to allow more surface area
Vegan buffalo sauce (I used Frank's Hot Wing Sauce without checking the ingredients, and I think there was butter in there. Oops.)
Dipping Sauce
1/2 block of tofu
1 can white beans
Parsley
1-2 tbs garlic powder
1-2 tbs onion powder
2-4 tbs apple cider vinegar
Juice of half a lemon
Pepper to taste
Bragg's Aminos or salt to taste
Directions
1. Combine all ingredients and blend. Adjust amounts to your taste. I like mine a little bit on the tart side. You may like to add a little stevie or sugar for a hint of sweet. However you like it.
2. Heat a pan on medium-high. You can either spritz with a tiny bit of oil or just use a dry pan. Lay out the tempeh slices in a single layer and wait until they have turned golden, then flip. Make sure they sufficiently golden, this made a huge difference in texture.
3. Toss tempeh in buffalo sauce. I served mine on a bed of greens tossed in some vinaigrette and garnished with some health sprouts.
